"golden chalice"

I came upon a chamber, hidden in plain view
I entered cautiously, as anyone one would do

No lavish decorations, nor even brightly lit
On a pedestal in the center, a golden chalice sits

I move closer slowly, the chalice is adorned
Strange symbols and markings, some of which are worn

I peer inside; it contains a liquid of gold
Mesmerized by this, the chalice I take hold

Compelled to taste, I place the chalice to my lips
Of its golden liquid, I do begin to sip

I find myself unprepared, for this elixir has a kick
Allowing myself to be, deceived by my insecurities tricks

My vision begins to blur, my heart rate is increased
I return the chalice to the pedestal, before falling to my knees

Before I lose consciousness, the markings become clear
“Love can only flourish, with trust and without fear”

When I came to, the chamber had disappeared
I recall my madness, as my mind begins to clear

My thirst is now driven, by what the chalice contained
Engraved on my heart, it bears the chalice’s name

I continue my search, for the chamber I have lost
My insecurities the madness, my heart now suffers the loss

The chamber is love, the golden chalice is you
What I had then, now I realize was true

So if you find a chamber, and inside a golden chalice resides
Open your heart to trust, let all your fears subside.

Covet thy chalice; always trust the one you love
The chamber will remain open and lift your heart above
