We played a game, known as love
In the beginning, it was heaven and above
Our pawns moved forward, across the board
Our hearts the King, our protection was sworn
Piece by piece, the board was cleared
Truth was the queen, we both seemed to fear
I sacrificed pieces, which you thought were free
Setting this board, for defeat or victory
Black and white, the true color of love
My broken heart, weeps out in blood
Knights and Bishops, find a striking place
The Queen sets out, from her starting space
I gave you time, for my Kings protection
My final move, I don’t think you were expecting
Truth moves in, for us it’s too late
This game of ours ends, in a simple “checkmate”.
